Planetary GearBox is a type of servo gearbox. It is a mechanical transmission component that connects servo motors and application loads in motion control systems. Planetary reducers are mainly composed of single-stage or multi-stage planetary gear systems, which have the characteristics of compact structure, small volume, and high transmission efficiency.
Working principle of planetary gearbox:
1) The ring gear is fixed, the sun gear is active, and the planetary carrier is passive. This combination is called downshifting transmission, usually with a transmission ratio of 2.5 to 5 and the same steering.
2) The ring gear is fixed, the planetary carrier is active, and the sun gear is passive. This combination is an acceleration transmission, with a transmission ratio generally ranging from 0.2 to 0.4 and the same steering.
3) The sun gear is fixed, the ring gear is active, and the planetary carrier is passive. This combination is called downshifting transmission, with a typical gear ratio of 1.25-1.67 and the same steering.
4) The sun gear is fixed, the planetary carrier is active, and the ring gear is passive. This combination is an acceleration transmission, with a transmission ratio generally ranging from 0.6 to 0.8 and the same steering.
5) The planetary carrier is fixed, the ring gear is active, and the sun gear is passive. This combination is an acceleration transmission, with a transmission ratio generally ranging from 0.25 to 0.67 and opposite steering.
There are five main reasons for the abnormal noise of planetary gearboxes.
1. There are foreign objects inside the body
This abnormal noise is clear and irregular, mainly caused by foreign objects (such as small parts, assembly tools, etc.) accidentally falling into the gearbox during assembly. If the above situation occurs, the foreign object should be removed and the gear should be checked for damage.
2. Damaged and detached components
This abnormal noise is clear and irregular. Due to the frequent heavy load impact on the planetary gearbox, under the continuous action of the load, it causes damage and detachment of parts such as bearings and gear teeth, and the damaged parts fall off inside the body, causing abnormal noise. It is necessary to promptly clean the detached parts inside the body and replace damaged parts.
3. Large bearing clearance
This abnormal noise is clear, continuous, periodic, and increases with the increase of speed. A bearing is mainly composed of four parts: inner ring, outer ring, rolling elements, and cage. Large bearing clearance refers to the excessive gap between the roller and the inner and outer rings. During operation, the rolling elements collide with the inner and outer rings, producing abnormal noise.
4. The clearance between gear teeth is too large
This abnormal noise is turbid and usually occurs at the moment of starting the gearbox, but disappears during continuous operation. In gear meshing transmission, in order to form a lubricating oil film between the meshing tooth profiles and avoid getting stuck due to frictional heating and expansion of the teeth, there must be a gap between the tooth profiles, which is called tooth flank clearance. If the backlash is too small, heating and expansion can cause the meshing gears to get stuck; However, if the gap is too large, a strong impact force will be generated at the moment of tooth contact, resulting in impact noise.
5. Non concentricity between parts
This abnormal noise is turbid, continuous, and periodic; In general, the concentricity deviation between parts does not affect the working performance of the product. However, if this deviation exceeds the allowable range, it will produce abnormal noise and even affect the service life of the reducer; Due to the lack of concentricity between parts, abnormal meshing of gears, uneven distribution of working loads, and the generation of unbalanced forces, abnormal noise is produced under the action of these unbalanced forces.
