As a core component of industrial robots, precision reducers require characteristics such as short transmission chain, small size, high power, light weight, and easy control compared to general reducers. There are two main types of reducers widely used in articulated robots: RV reducers and harmonic reducers.
1、 RV reducer for robot reducer:
Principle of RV reducer: RV reducer is generally used for low-speed and high torque transmission equipment. It reduces the speed of electric motors, internal combustion engines, or other high-speed operating power by meshing the gears with fewer teeth on the input shaft of the reducer with the large gears on the output shaft.
Structural features: large transmission ratio, high precision, high efficiency, long service life
Application areas: robotic arms, machine tools, assembly devices, handling devices
2、 Harmonic reducer of robot reducer
Principle of harmonic reducer: The meshing process of flexible and rigid gear teeth at the pitch circle is like two pure rolling (non sliding) rings, and at any moment, the arc length of the two must be equal when rotating on the pitch circle. Due to the fact that the flexible wheel has two fewer tooth pitches than the rigid wheel on the pitch circumference, the flexible wheel must rotate two tooth pitch angular displacements relative to the rigid wheel during the meshing process. This angular displacement is the rotation of the output shaft of the reducer, thus achieving the purpose of deceleration.
Structural features: small size, light weight, large transmission ratio, high precision, smooth transmission, high efficiency
Application areas: Light industrial robots/robotic arms, precision measuring devices, precision transmission systems with volume requirements
For robot reducers that use lubricating oil as a lubricant, due to the high relative sliding speed between the teeth during high-speed meshing of the flexible and steel wheels, the function of the matching lubricating oil is to reduce the heat generated by the gear friction pair during transmission, play a role in heat dissipation, ensure sufficient lubrication of the gears, reduce friction, prevent gear wear and even adhesion, and achieve the goal of improving transmission efficiency and bearing capacity. With the development trend of industrial robot reducers towards miniaturization, lightweight, high-speed, and heavy-duty, their working conditions are bound to become more demanding, and higher performance requirements are put forward for their matching oil.
From the perspective of oil performance requirements for industrial robot reducers, as industrial robot reducers tend to become smaller, lighter, faster, and heavier, their matching oil needs to have better extreme pressure anti-wear performance, anti foaming performance, rust and anti-corrosion performance, inhibition of sludge deposition, and longer oil change cycles.
